Prosperian’s Process Begins With Conversations
Our team’s greatest strength is our ability to connect with clients and engage in a genuine dialogue – about their finances, and their lives more broadly. Understanding people’s relationship with money, what they want to achieve, and what their worries are helps us build a plan that truly fits their needs.
Kicking Off Our Work Together
When we first meet with a potential client, our advisors dedicate a significant amount of time getting to know you and your finances. We don’t want to skip any steps or miss out on important information, so our onboarding process typically involves 3-5 meetings which can take place in person, on the phone, or over Zoom. At the end of this process, clients will have a comprehensive “Financial Blueprint” outlining their best path forward and we’ll take the first steps to implement it.
Here’s Our Process For New Client Engagements:
Step 01 - Getting to Know Us
Our first meeting is an introductory call where we share our financial planning philosophy, how we engage with clients, and what our fee structure looks like. We know there are many financial advisors you can choose from, and we want to make sure you leave this meeting with a clear understanding of what it means – and costs – to work with us.
Step 02 - Getting to Know You
Early in the process, it is also important for us to learn about the current state of your finances. This includes:
- What is your current household income?
- What do your savings look like?
- What workplace benefits are you taking advantage of?
- What types of protection coverage do you have (e.g., life insurance, umbrella policies)?
- What types of brokerage and/or retirement accounts do you have?
- How are you allocating your current investments?
- How much do you typically spend per month?
Starting with this information is an essential foundation for creating a Financial Blueprint that will help you meet your goals. We know it can take a lot of time and effort to gather this information, and we’re always here to help and go through your financial statements together!
And while we care about the numbers and finances, of course, this time is also for us to learn about:
- Your goals and ambitions
- Parents, partners, children, or other loved ones
- Your career circumstances
- Your interests and hobbies
- What keeps you up at night
Step 03 - Analysis & Recommendations
Because every client’s situation is different, so are our recommendations. Using inputs from our conversations and documents you provided, our team will run a detailed analysis through our financial planning software and create a model with general observations, blind spots, untapped opportunities, and guidance for how best to proceed.
Step 04 - Aligning on Strategy
Next, we’ll come together to discuss and iterate on these recommendations and map out a financial game plan. Some priorities we’ll be able to address immediately, some will require more long-term execution, while others may be put on hold and returned to at a later date. It’s important to remember that recommendations will change and evolve over time, so the planning process is a constant work in progress.
Step 05 - Implementing your Financial Blueprint
Once we’re aligned on the strategy outlined in your Blueprint, we’ll kick off the onboarding process. This may include completing investment paperwork, going through the insurance application process, updating your benefit elections, rolling over brokerage or retirement accounts, and/or connecting with a CPA or Estate Planning Attorneys.
Step 06 - Your Single Point of Contact Going Forward
Once the onboarding process is finalized and your plan is being executed, we’ll conduct regular assessments, send monthly statements, and host quarterly update calls. You can also log into your client portal at any time to review your accounts or call or email us with any questions. Our goal is to be the single point of contact you need for your financial life, and we really mean it when we say “don’t hesitate to reach out.”
